Block this Russian diesel deal. Buying 3 million tons of fuel from Putin doesn't just prop up the Russian economy — it directly funds the war machine bombing Ukrainian cities. Russia has been supplying Iran with satellite intelligence and drone components used against American forces. We are now handing revenue to a country actively supporting our enemies.
The administration signed a bipartisan Russia sanctions law just last month — a law that explicitly directed steep tariffs on Russian energy imports. This deal spits in the face of that legislation and the congressional will behind it. As Senator Schumer put it, this is "failure to follow the law." Even Republican Congressman Don Bacon called it morally wrong, saying Putin "uses that money to bomb cities." This isn't a partisan issue. It's a question of whether America's word means anything.
Diesel prices are a real problem. But the answer isn't cutting a sweetheart deal with an adversary who is actively working against us. Oppose this agreement and demand the administration comply with the sanctions law Congress already passed.
