As your constituent, I am writing to you to share my grave concern over Donald Trump’s call for the Senate to go into recess in 2025 and let him appoint all his nominees without a vote. This represents a complete disregard for your constitutional obligation to independently weigh each nomination and decide if the nominee is qualified to fulfill these important roles. I urge you to refuse Trump’s call and reiterate you will represent your constituents and vote on all nominees.
I am specifically alarmed that Trump intends to nominate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to the Department of Health and Human Services, Pete Hegseth to the Department of Defense, and Linda McMahon to the Department of Education.
RFK Jr. has time and time again promoted dangerous public health disinformation that would be a direct threat to public health, and he has been credibly accused of sexual assault.
Pete Hegseth opposes women in combat roles and has said, "The dumbest phrase on planet Earth in the military is 'our diversity is our strength.'" On top of his anti-women, racist, and anti-LGBTQIA+ comments, he too has been credibly accused of sexual assault.
Linda McMahon has almost no background in public education, and she is being sued for enabling child sex abuse.
Again, I urge you to demand the facts surrounding these three nominations and to reject Donald Trump’s call for the Senate to abandon its constitutional role and obligation to independently vote on all nominations. Thank you for your consideration.
