Michigan's transgender community needs your visible, vocal support right now. With 835 anti-trans bills introduced across 43 states in 2026 — including 32 right here in Michigan — the legislative assault on trans people is not abstract. It is relentless, and it is local. I want you to publicly stand with Michigan's transgender community and actively oppose every anti-trans bill moving through our state legislature. Stand with Trans, a Michigan-based nonprofit, has built something remarkable: a Trans Empowerment Month that started as a single workshop for Southeast Michigan youth in 2015 and now draws participants from Brazil, Germany, the Philippines, Thailand, and beyond. That reach exists because trans people in too many places lack local support, community centers, or safe spaces. Michigan can be different. Gov. Whitmer recognized Transgender Empowerment Month in 2025 — now it's time for the legislature to match that commitment with action. Use your platform and your vote to protect trans Michiganders.
