Defend Medicare and Medicaid from Cuts in the "One Big Beautiful Bill" Act

To: Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick

From: A constituent in Lititz, PA

May 22

I strongly urge you to oppose any budget reconciliation bill that cuts Medicaid, reduces Medicaid expansion, or imposes burdensome Medicaid work requirements. The Congressional Budget Office has warned that the GOP's proposed tax cuts for the wealthy would trigger over $500 billion in automatic cuts to Medicare due to budget rules. This would be devastating for the millions who rely on these vital healthcare programs. Cutting Medicaid funding or limiting expansion would cause millions to lose their health coverage, leading to poorer health outcomes and increased mortality rates. Imposing work requirements is costly to implement and has been shown to cause further massive coverage losses, harming vulnerable populations. Medicaid provides crucial access to care for over 72 million low-income and disabled Americans. Undermining these programs to fund tax breaks for the wealthy is unconscionable and will directly endanger lives while destabilizing local economies. I urge you to reject any legislation that compromises the healthcare of millions of your constituents.
