Stop playing dangerous games w/ the lives of Abrego Garcia & other human beings
To: Sen. Young, Sen. Banks, Rep. Messmer
From: A constituent in Mount Vernon, IN
August 23, 2025
I'm writing to express my serious concern over the reported potential 2nd deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda?!!?! A man with legal protections against removal to El Salvador. According to court filings, the government deported Mr. Abrego Garcia by mistake, despite being aware of his "withholding of removal" status granted due to credible threats he would face in El Salvador. This and the abuse that he and others kidnapped to CECOT experienced are clear violations of U.S. immigration laws, deportation procedures, and inhumane.
Mr. Abrego Garcia has lived in the United States since 2011, has no criminal record, works full-time to support his U.S. citizen wife and disabled child, and was deported without due process after being wrongfully labeled a gang member.
He languished in a Salvadoran megaprison under harsh conditions.
I urge you to take immediate action to rectify these alarming errors against this man and other human beings in similar situations and uphold the rule of law.
The U.S. government must work diligently to secure Mr. Abrego Garcia's due process and safe return to his family in the United States. Allowing such unlawful deportations and illegal and dangerous abuses to stand uncorrected undermines our laws and democratic values. I respectfully request you use all lawful means at your disposal to bring Mr. Abrego Garcia permanently home to his family in Maryland.
