No on HB 500

To: Gov. Beshear, Sen. Nunn, Rep. Maddox

From: A verified voter in Dry Ridge, KY

February 16

I am writing to voice my opposition to HB500. My husband and I are both retired high school teachers. We already pay a significant amount for our health insurance. If this bill becomes a law, it will dramatically increase our healthcare costs while reducing our health insurance coverage. We may be forced to forego health insurance at a time in our lives when it is most important to receive quality care. Kentucky lawmakers have continued to beat down state employees, especially teachers, by not providing salaries that keep up with the ever increasing cost of living. This legislative body has lowered taxes while also decreasing the very services and benefits our tax dollars should fund. The wealthiest KY citizens benefit the most from the tax decrease while the rest of us continue to have to pay more out of pocket with stagnant wages. Please, don't vote to make the lives of state employees more difficult. Vote NO on HB 500 and move on to legislation that will actually benefit the citizens you were elected to serve.
