I’m writing you today to ask for an end to DHS/ICE presence in Manor and the city of Austin. I am daily hearing and seeing helicopters circling Manor and Austin with some flights lasting hours. There have been ICE agents harassing people in Manor at their doors threatening arrest for no known crime, car accidents in the suburbs of Austin caused by ICE car chases, and a general spirit of fear being sown in my peaceful community. ICE and DHS has to go. There is no reason that leaders like yourself can’t demand their removal from Manor and Austin like “Mayor Brandon Johnson [did when he] signed the “ICE Free Zone” executive order, which creates clear mechanisms to prohibit federal immigration agents from using any City-owned property.” I say take it a step further and expand that to anywhere and everywhere in your district. We cannot allow these undertrained fake cops terrorize our communities under the guise of protecting them. Please do everything and anything to get ICE and DHS out of our cities and communities. Enough is enough of this unregulated paramilitary force.
