A lot of news talks about how operation Metro Surge devastated the local economy of the Twin Cities. It doesn't grab the headlines, but the same thing is happening in our state. In my own community, a local restaurant owner was taken away from his family by ICE agents. If you voted for bills that fund TSA and the Coast Guard but exclude money for ICE, then you have my gratitude for holding the line. Money for essential services is good but not if it includes funds for bullying small businesses. If you have yet to vote for bills that lock ICE money out of further funding for TSA and the rest of DHS, don't worry. There will be future opportunities to do the right thing. We are watching closely.
