Reckless ICE and Border Patrol operations in Minneapolis and across the country now are hurting children, families, and our communities. Congress must act now to rein in these agents and oppose any bill that would add to its already massive budget – including the most recent appropriations bill.
ICE's violent operations show a disregard for the law and our basic civil rights. The federal agents terrorizing our communities must leave Minneapolis before others are hurt by the administration's cruelty.
As a member of Congress, you have a responsibility to hold ICE accountable for these abuses and demand answers – for the safety of every person that you represent.
Specifically, I'm urging you to:
• Demand an end to the ICE operation in Minneapolis and stop other large-scale escalations in our communities
• Oppose any further funding to ICE's enforcement and detention budget, including the most recent appropriations bill.
• Launch a transparent and independent investigation into the killings of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Jeffrey Pretti, ICE's reckless hiring spree, and its apparent failure to hold its agents accountable to the law
We cannot sit idly by as our neighbors are killed. Every day, more people are subjected to abuse at the hands of ICE – and more of your constituents live in fear. I hope you'll act immediately to stop ICE's escalation and protect us all.
