Stop government overreach, protect civil liberties from mass surveillance

To: Sen. Alsobrooks, Rep. Elfreth, Sen. Van Hollen

From: A verified voter in Severna Park, MD

The administration's expanded use of Palantir's technology to consolidate and analyze immense amounts of personal data on Americans from across federal agencies is a grave violation of civil liberties and privacy rights. Creating detailed dossiers that could encompass financial records, medical histories, educational backgrounds and more raises chilling parallels to the surveillance states depicted in George Orwell's 1984 and real-life examples like China's omnipresent social credit system. This unprecedented government overreach into the private lives of citizens tramples on constitutional protections and represents a major step towards authoritarian social control utterly antithetical to American values of freedom. Urgent action is needed to halt this Orwellian program of mass data harvesting and ensure robust safeguards against such egregious affronts to individual privacy in the future. The right to be free from unwarranted government monitoring and profiling is a bedrock principle that must be vigorously defended.
