Pass Universal Healthcare Now

To: Sen. Schiff, Rep. Chu, Sen. Padilla

From: A verified voter in Pasadena, CA

October 31

Pass universal healthcare. Michael Depew is 28 years old, has testicular cancer, and needs chemotherapy that costs $50,000. He has no insurance. His doctor gave him three months to live. He sat on hold with 17 callers ahead of him just to try to enroll in coverage, and he said, "If I'm not mistaken, I'll be dead in November." This is not an isolated case. Nearly 450,000 Floridians lost their ACA coverage this year, more than in any other state, after enhanced premium tax credits expired and marketplace costs rose 20 percent in January. Florida never expanded Medicaid, so low-income adults without children like Depew fall through the gap entirely. Nationally, 26.7 million Americans were uninsured in 2024, the first increase since 2019, and 41 percent of Americans carry medical debt. People are dying because they cannot afford care. Depew voted for the politicians currently in office and is now reconsidering because survival depends on it. Medicare for All is the only solution that closes this gap permanently. Vote to make it happen.
