Defend the Constitution, Support DC Funds, and Vote No on the JUDGES Act
To: Rep. Bergman
From: A verified voter in Marquette, MI
April 15
I’m writing with three urgent requests—each rooted in the values of responsible governance:
1. Uphold the Constitution:
I’m alarmed by President Trump’s refusal to comply with Supreme Court rulings. Upholding the rule of law is a core American principle and essential to preserving confidence in our government. I respectfully urge you to use your voice and leadership to ensure no branch of government—executive, legislative, or judicial—is above the Constitution. Our democracy depends on clear checks and balances.
2. Support the DC Local Funds Act (S.1077):
Regardless of your stance on DC statehood, the District’s local services—schools, emergency response, and public safety—should not be collateral damage in budget battles. The DC Local Funds Act ensures basic services remain functional. Supporting this bill demonstrates commitment to order, public safety, and responsible governance.
3. Oppose the JUDGES Act (H.R. 1702):
H.R. 1702 would create 22 new lifetime federal judgeships and one temporary one—likely all filled by this administration in its final months. Rushing lifetime appointments in a politically volatile time risks undermining public trust in the courts. Please oppose this bill to avoid long-term judicial and financial consequences.
Thank you for your service and your attention to these matters. As your constituent in Michigan’s 1st District, I appreciate your leadership and your oath to uphold the Constitution.
