I don’t know if states can help us keep the Supreme Court transparent but I drafted this in attempt to do so. If you and our Attorney General think this concept is workable, please share with our coalition of states and state attorneys general. I wrote this to Congress this morning.
“If the Supreme Court will not disclose and adhere to ethical conduct rules, then the people must make them do so.
I urge you to propose legislation requiring any individual, company, entity, or other to-be-defined group (“Giftor”) to disclose any and all gifts, payments, trips, advice, or items that can be construed to have value above $100.00 to be disclosed by said Giftor or be subject to criminal and/or civil penalties. Justices should then also review said filings quarterly or semi-annually to acknowledge or dispute, on the record, said items of value.
If the Supreme Court of the United States is not able to act ethically, as the highest power in the land, then we the people must hold ourselves and them accountable.”
