Congress must immediately stand up to Donald Trump’s illegal and fiscally reckless “triumphal arch” scheme outside Arlington National Cemetery. I urge you to publicly support, co-sponsor, and vote for the Arlington National Cemetery Viewshed Protection Act introduced by Representatives Don Beyer and Dina Titus. Arlington National Cemetery is sacred ground. It is not a stage for political vanity projects, ego monuments, or authoritarian displays of power. The idea that taxpayer dollars could be diverted toward constructing a massive arch dedicated to Donald Trump himself is an insult to every service member and family who sacrificed their life for this country. At a time when Americans are struggling to afford groceries, housing, healthcare, and basic necessities, this administration is pushing an unauthorized monument designed solely to glorify one man. That is not patriotism. It is corruption and fiscal irresponsibility on a staggering scale. Representative Beyer is absolutely correct: this proposal brazenly violates the Commemorative Works Act and relies on illegal manipulations of funding without congressional approval. Congress cannot continue looking the other way while laws are ignored and public institutions are twisted to serve political narcissism. Even worse, Trump reportedly admitted the arch is for “me.” Not veterans. Not the nation. Not democracy. Himself. That should outrage every American regardless of party affiliation. Arlington exists to honor the fallen heroes of the United States — not to elevate the ego of a politician. Constructing this colossal vanity monument beside one of the most sacred military cemeteries in America would permanently stain the dignity of the site and further erode public trust in government stewardship of taxpayer funds. Congress must draw a line now. Stop allowing illegal actions, unconstitutional abuses of power, and wasteful corruption to continue unchecked. Protect Arlington. Protect the law. Protect taxpayer dollars. Vote yes on the Arlington National Cemetery Viewshed Protection Act and stop this immoral project before irreversible damage is done.
