I am solemnly and sadly requesting the impeachment of the president of the United States, Donald J Trump.
If we do not act now, we would be derelict in our duty. It is tragic that the president’s reckless actions make impeachment necessary. He has given us no choice.
In the first weeks of his second term, Trump and his acting leadership at the Office of Management and Budget tried to freeze spending that Congress had already appropriated. President Trump's allies' moves represent illegal seizures of power that have thrown the U.S. into a constitutional crisis.
Over the course of the last two weeks, we have witnessed President Trump abuse his power by allowing and encouraging Elon Musk and his entourage, without proper security clearances, to illegally infiltrate government agencies in order to obtain personal information about the government and it's people, including but not limited to social security numbers, dob's, adresses, medical records, banking and financial information. He has further allowed and encouraged them to illegally fire and intimate government employees.
Democrats should not grant expedited process to any nominees unless this crisis passes. We must rise up against this seizure of power.
The framers of the Constitution designed checks and balances to prevent crises like the one the U.S. is currently experiencing. We must act now. We must act swiftly. The danger persists. The risk is real. Our democracy is at peril.
