Protect students’ right to public education

To: Rep. Bacon, Sen. Fischer, Sen. Ricketts

From: A constituent in Papillion, NE

March 20

The proposed executive order to dismantle the Department of Education threatens to undermine essential services and protections for students across the country. It is crucial to safeguard the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, which ensures access to education for students with disabilities, as well as Title I funding for low-income schools and key civil rights protections. Dismantling the Department would put these critical programs at risk. As public servants, we have a responsibility to prioritize the well-being and equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their backgrounds or abilities. I urge you to reconsider this misguided action and instead focus efforts on strengthening and improving educational resources and support systems to empower every child to reach their full potential.
