Abolish ICE. That's what I'm asking you to do. A 26-year-old Colombian man — a work-authorized resident with a Social Security number, a husband, a father — was shot dead by ICE agents in Biddeford on Monday. His wife fell to her knees in the street. His young daughter stood there in a pink backpack. This is the ninth death from a federal immigration encounter since this administration's crackdown began, and the second ICE killing in a single week.
The agents involved had no body cameras. There is no footage from their perspective, only a neighbor's security camera that Maine State Police asked not to be released. Sen. King himself questioned whether the threat level justified deadly force. Only 45% of ICE's Maine arrests since Trump took office involved people with criminal backgrounds — down from 69% previously. This agency is not targeting dangerous criminals. It is terrorizing families, and people are dying with no accountability. Abolish it.
