Outside Donald Trump, most Americans take our constitutional rights seriously. I’m asking you to oppose any legislative effort to end or restrict birthright citizenship — and to speak clearly about why. President Trump recently shared another post on Truth Social calling for an end to birthright citizenship, characterizing it as a loophole exploited by wealthy foreigners and unassimilated immigrants. This framing is misleading on multiple counts. At least 33 other countries grant birthright citizenship. The 14th Amendment has been settled law for over 150 years, upheld by the Supreme Court since 1898 in United States v. Wong Kim Ark. And multiple federal courts have already ruled that the President’s executive order on this issue is unconstitutional. The policy being promoted is amoral and would strip citizenship from tens of thousands of U.S.-born babies every month, creating a permanent stateless underclass of people who belong nowhere. Here is a fact worth sitting with: The same birthright citizenship protection Donald Trump is trying to eliminate is the very system that secured the citizenship of 4 of his 5 children! Specifically, 3 of the President’s 5 children — Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric — were all born to a mother who was not yet a U.S. citizen. And a 4th, Barron Trump, was born before his mother, Melania, completed naturalization. This is not a partisan issue—it’s is a constitutional one. The 14th Amendment does not have an asterisk. This, I urge you to use your voice clearly and on the record wherever you’ll be heard to protect birthright citizenship between now and when Trump’s stacked US Supreme Court rules (by the ironic date of July 4th, America’s 250th anniversary). If Roberts chooses the cowardly Shadow Docket, he’ll be sparking a revolution. - We The People
