Keep Illinois free from online ID checking

To: Gov. Pritzker, Rep. Hernandez, Sen. Cervantes

From: A constituent in Brookfield, IL

July 31

Do not let any online age verification 'id check' legislation pass. Not only would they be a massive violation of privacy, there's no guarantee that such personal data won't be stolen or sold. On top of that, it would make it even harder to access important information for marginalized groups. For example: Trans kids would be cut off from any safe spaces or LGBT communities. If you need evidence on why online ID laws won't work, just look at the UK and how everyone is angry and suffering from their ham fisted attempt (which they even outright said the law wasn't even made to protect kids) There are ways to keep kids away from bad parts of the internet, but forcing every site to take personal data from every visitor is NOT how to do it.
