Federal action is urgently needed to curb the epidemic of gun violence plaguing our nation. We cannot continue to allow parents to fear for their children's lives when sending them to school. Implementing universal background checks and red flag laws to prohibit firearms from those deemed a threat are reasonable steps that respect the Second Amendment while promoting public safety. Gun violence has become all too commonplace, traumatizing communities and leaving families devastated. It is imperative that we take decisive measures to prevent dangerous individuals from accessing weapons and safeguard our children's fundamental right to receive an education free from the threat of violence. Inaction is unacceptable when young lives are at stake.
