No Kings in America

To: Sen. Alsobrooks, Sen. Van Hollen, Rep. Elfreth

From: A constituent in Glen Burnie, MD

February 20, 2025

As a democratically elected leader, President Trump's declaration of himself as "king" and dismissal of legally established programs like New York's congestion pricing are unacceptable violations of democratic norms and the separation of powers. His attempts to consolidate power by seizing control of independent agencies are unconstitutional overreaches that undermine the rule of law. The threat to strip billions from New York's mass transit system that serves millions of people daily is an assault on public infrastructure for petty political gain. I urge you to take immediate action to uphold the Constitution, check this administration's rampant abuses, and pursue all available means to protect our democracy and hold the President accountable.
