Protect Social Security

To: Rep. Davidson, Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted

From: A verified voter in Oxford, OH

April 5

I am a senior citizen who has paid into social security, and I expect to receive the payments which I EARNED. This is not a giveaway, and it is not something a reckless, unelected individual should be tasked with taking away. The so-called Department of Government Efficiency has hobbled Social Security services by closing offices, firing employees, and making the website unavailable. To what end? This is not about efficiency but about sheltering the uber-wealthy from contributing their fair share to the common good as other taxpayers do. If these persons paid their share, social security would remain solvent long into the future. This is clearly an end run to steal the earned benefits of millions who rely on this income—their earned income. Make no mistake, we are a very large voting bloc, and we expect you to do your job and stop this attack on those of us affected by this irresponsibility. We don’t need newsletters or generic responses telling us what an honor it is to represent us. We need you to actually represent us and start acting like a co-equal branch of government rather than a rubber stamp for thoughtless destruction of our institutions.
