As a native Coloradan, I am writing to urge you to boldly oppose Project Taurus, the proposed AI data center at the former Intel Campus.  I want to live in a world where my family, my friends, and my community have access to nature without the repercussions of an AI data center. I am concerned about having access to clean water. Colorado is already experiencing high drought and adding in a data center, which are known for using millions of gallons of water to keep the facilities running, is absolutely unsustainable for the people and the environment. AI data centers are also known for causing noise pollution which greatly affect wildlife and the neighboring communities. Clearly, this is not the best choice for Colorado.  Additionally, I am concerned about how our society is moving towards AI dependency. When do we stop? Where is the line? I don’t want to wait until it’s too late, when the working class becomes nonexistent and everything becomes AI driven, leaving millions of people with no jobs and no hope for the future.  I don’t want the state of Colorado to become a place where the rich get to build their facilities, systems, and infrastructure without any protections for the land, the animals, and the people. It is unjust that they get to build their wealth at the expense of our access to resources and the wellbeing of the planet. I care about Colorado and I want future generations to be able to enjoy the natural beauties and wonders that make Colorado unique.  Most importantly, we must recognize and remember that the land we are standing on is/was inhabited by the Ute, Cheyenne, Arapaho and other native tribes. To destroy the land for the sake of AI is an insult to my ancestors who cared for this land long before it was taken from them.  Please do the right thing and do not approve the building of this or any future AI data center in Colorado.
