I am writing to express my strong support for continued investment through the Great American Outdoors Act 250 initiative as our nation approaches its 250th anniversary. This milestone presents an important opportunity not only to celebrate our shared history, but also to make meaningful progress in addressing the growing need for capital projects and deferred maintenance across our public lands. National parks, forests, and historic sites face substantial backlogs of repairs to aging infrastructure—ranging from trails and campgrounds to visitor centers and critical safety improvements. Without sustained investment, these challenges will continue to impact both visitor experience and long-term stewardship. As someone who frequently visits and relies on public lands, I have seen firsthand the importance of maintaining these spaces. Well-kept trails, functioning facilities, and preserved natural and historic features are essential to ensuring these places remain accessible and enjoyable. When infrastructure falls behind, it diminishes both the experience and the ability of these lands to serve the public. The GAOA 250 effort would help accelerate much-needed capital improvements and repairs, ensuring that our public lands are prepared to safely and reliably welcome visitors in the years ahead. These investments provide greater certainty for visitors like myself—making it easier to plan trips with confidence, knowing that these places are being responsibly maintained. In addition to improving access and safety, these projects support local economies, create jobs, and preserve the landscapes and historic resources that define our national identity. I respectfully urge you to support continued investment aligned with the Great American Outdoors Act as part of our nation’s 250th anniversary efforts. This is a meaningful way to honor our country’s legacy while ensuring these cherished places remain strong for future generations.
