Opposition to the Ban on the Pride Flag

To: Sen. Rouson, Rep. Driskell, Gov. DeSantis

From: A constituent in Temple Terrace, FL

March 1, 2025

I am writing to express my strong opposition to any legislation or policy that bans the display of the Pride flag in Florida. Such a ban is not only unnecessary but also harmful to the values of inclusivity, freedom of expression, and equal rights that many Floridians hold dear. The Pride flag represents a diverse and vibrant community of individuals who contribute significantly to our state’s economy, culture, and society. Banning its display sends a troubling message of exclusion and intolerance, which goes against the principles of liberty and justice that our state and country stand for. Freedom of speech and expression are fundamental American values, and restricting the display of a flag that symbolizes support for LGBTQ+ individuals undermines these rights. It is important that our government remains a place of fairness and representation for all its citizens, not one that enforces exclusionary policies. I urge you to oppose this ban and instead advocate for policies that foster inclusivity, respect, and unity among all Floridians. I appreciate your time and consideration of this important issue.
