How can you sit by and watch our government slide into authoritarian rule?
Trump’s move to fire FTC Commissioners Slaughter and Bedoya is blatantly illegal under established precedent. It’s not just a personnel change—it’s a direct attempt to dismantle independent oversight and consolidate unchecked power. This is a dangerous erosion of democratic norms.
But this isn’t just a national issue—Alaskans will feel the impact.
The FTC plays a critical role in protecting consumers in remote, high-cost markets like ours. We already face limited competition in areas like health care, telecom, and groceries. Without the FTC’s oversight, corporations could raise prices, reduce services, or exploit rural consumers with deceptive practices.
And while the FTC doesn’t regulate oil development directly, it helps prevent anti-competitive behavior and price manipulation in the energy market. Alaskans rely on responsible resource development—but we also need watchdogs to keep it fair and accountable.
This is about more than politics. It’s about protecting Alaskans, preserving oversight, and defending the rule of law. I urge you to speak out and take action before it’s too late.
