I write today in profound disappointment and anger regarding your recent votes—alongside many Republicans—to reject Senator Sanders’ resolutions aiming to halt certain U.S. arms shipments to Israel. On July 31, 2025, both of you firmly opposed measures that would have called for a partial block on military aid amid the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza—voting with the majority of your party against Senate efforts to limit complicity in what many observers are describing as famine and civilian massacres . Your refusal to stand with the growing number of Americans urging restraint and accountability is deeply troubling; you have ignored the moral imperative that the majority—and indeed, over 65 % of the country—has expressed through polling, approving of a restraint in Israel’s actions . Your silence in the aftermath—declining to explain your votes or even respond to inquiries—is equally shameful. Constituents expected leadership grounded in principle and humanity, not political expediency. You should feel ashamed that your offices remain “mum” when pressed for rationale or compassion in the face of suffering . Support for policies contributing to civilian suffering demands explanation—not silence—and I urge you to reflect on the grave consequences of your decisions.
