An Open Letter
To: Pres. Trump
From: A verified voter in Killeen, TX
October 7
You repeatedly say that secure, trustworthy elections are one of your highest priorities. If that is true, then transparency should not frighten you.
Invite the OSCE international election observers to monitor the 2026 midterms — and invite a robust mission with enough observers to meaningfully watch polling, ballot processing, counting, auditing, and certification wherever legally permitted.
Many Americans do not trust you to police your own election. I am one of them. Some people will believe whatever you say, but millions of Americans will not simply take your word that an election was fair because you tell us it was. Your history surrounding elections has already created profound distrust.
That makes independent observation more important, not less.
You often present yourself as someone who wants transparency. Then demonstrate it. If your administration has nothing to hide and truly wants Americans to believe these elections are safe and secure, welcome outside scrutiny.
Refusing international observers makes your administration look afraid of independent eyes on the process. It creates suspicion where you claim to want confidence.
If election integrity really matters to you, step up and prove it: reverse this decision, invite the OSCE, and welcome as much lawful independent observation as possible.
Americans should not have to trust any president’s word about an election. We should be able to see the process for ourselves.
