Robust legislation safeguarding transgender individuals' right to have their identity documents accurately reflect their gender is imperative. Denying transgender people this basic ability needlessly obstructs their ability to travel and participate fully in society. Congress must prioritize securing transgender adults' freedom to update official identification without undue barriers in order to protect this vulnerable minority from further marginalization.
