Urgent Concern Regarding the SAVE Act – Please Vote NO

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody, Rep. Mills

From: A verified voter in Altamonte Springs, FL

February 6

I am writing to express my deep concern about the SAVE Act as it is currently written. While I support efforts to protect the integrity of our elections, I believe the SAVE Act’s requirements for documentary proof of citizenship will create unnecessary barriers for eligible U.S. citizens seeking to exercise their right to vote. Many Americans, especially seniors, low-income individuals, and married women whose names may have changed, do not have easy access to the documents required under this legislation. Married women, in particular, may face additional challenges if their legal names differ from those on their citizenship documents, making it more difficult to provide the necessary proof. The administrative burden of verifying citizenship for millions of voters could lead to confusion, delays, and the disenfranchisement of eligible citizens. This risks undermining the fundamental principle of accessible and fair elections. I urge you to vote against the SAVE Act in its current form and to support policies that protect both the security and accessibility of our democratic process. Please consider the unintended consequences this bill may have on the rights of law-abiding citizens. Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
