One day after the killing of an unarmed woman who was not a target of ICE action in Minnesota, news out of Portland is that federal agents conducting immigration enforcement have shot two more people and prompting the area FBI office to imprudently post and then
delete remarks about the shooting on X.
In this incident as in the Minneapolis shooting, federal officials’ response to the shootings have not been to urge calm, to wait for investigations before drawing conclusions, or to deescalate volatile situations. Instead they have without evidence—-and even contrary to available evidence—-asserted flawless performance by federal agents and blamed shooting victims for their injuries and death. This is not only counter to law enforcement policies in the event of officer involved shootings; it erodes public trust and escalates dangerous situations.
ICE and DHS are abusing the public with our own taxpayer dollars.
Deny them resources until they are accountable.
Hold congressional hearings. Ensure investigations involve state and local law enforcement to keep them fair, impartial, and transparent.
No funding for lawlessness.
