Does the God you invoke demand you harm the poor, the sick, the struggling?

To: Rep. Moore, Sen. Capito, Sen. Justice

From: A constituent in Buckhannon, WV

October 22

Why are you purposefully gutting safety net programs that your own constituents depend on? SNAP, Medicaid, the ACA — these aren’t “handouts.” They’re lifelines for working families, veterans, seniors, and children. You’ve had fifteen years to propose a real alternative to the Affordable Care Act — which, by the way, was your own party’s idea before Democrats adopted it as a compromise. Instead of improving or fixing it, you’ve spent every session trying to destroy it without offering a single viable replacement. That’s not leadership. It’s cruelty. Meanwhile, the economy is worsening under policies that only serve the wealthy and corporate donors. Families can’t afford groceries, childcare, or prescriptions while you congratulate yourselves on “fiscal restraint.” So I have to ask: is this intentional? Do you hate the people you represent? Does the God you so often invoke truly demand that you harm the poor, the sick, and the struggling? Because that’s exactly what your legislation is doing. West Virginians deserve compassion, not contempt. Do your job. Protect the people, not the powerful.
