Stop the nationwide book band and instead support the right to read act

To: Sen. Alsobrooks, Rep. Elfreth, Sen. Van Hollen

From: A verified voter in Arnold, MD

March 23

I'm writing to ask that you oppose H.R. 7661, a bill that opens the door for nationwide book banning. This bill does not protect anyone, but instead discriminates against already marginalized communities to stoke fear and division in our country. There is no place for this kind of censorship in a democratic society. Instead, I urge you to support H.R. 6440, the Right to Read Act, to fund education and increase student literacy across America. We need to put more money back into the early intervention of reading and providing a variety of reading topics, not just " maga " approved. Thank you for your time and consideration.
