Oppose H.R. 1526 – Protect Judicial Independence and the Constitution

To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno

From: A constituent in Columbus, OH

April 10

I’m writing to express my strong opposition to H.R. 1526, the bill recently passed by the House to prohibit federal district judges from issuing nationwide injunctions. I urge you to reject this dangerous legislation and stand up for the independence of our judiciary. Nationwide injunctions have been a vital tool in protecting constitutional rights and ensuring that harmful or unlawful federal actions can be halted swiftly, especially when they affect people across the country. Limiting this authority undermines the courts’ ability to serve as a meaningful check on executive overreach. This bill does not improve our justice system—it politicizes it. It sends a clear message that certain voices in government want to punish judges for doing their jobs. Judicial decisions should be guided by the law and the Constitution, not political pressure or retaliation. I’m also deeply concerned by the Justice Department’s move to bar its lawyers from attending American Bar Association events. The legal profession depends on open dialogue, professional standards, and nonpartisan collaboration. This is part of a broader campaign to discredit the legal community and erode accountability. Please protect the balance of power and reject this bill. I am counting on you to defend the Constitution—not just when it’s easy, but especially when it’s under threat.
