Upholding First Amendment Values for All Citizens

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Doggett

From: A constituent in Austin, TX

February 16

I am writing as a constituent in Texas to ask you to consider supporting efforts to recognize the Pride flag as an authorized symbol that Americans may display on federal property. This issue is not about replacing or competing with the American flag. It is about upholding the core American values of freedom of expression, individual liberty, and equal treatment under the law. Our country has always stood for the idea that people should be free to express who they are without fear of government restriction. Many Americans view the Pride flag as a symbol of personal freedom, resilience, and the belief that all citizens should be treated equally. Allowing its recognition is consistent with the principle that government should not favor or restrict expression based on viewpoint. Protecting that freedom strengthens the constitutional rights of all Americans. I believe we are strongest as a nation when we uphold the founding ideals of liberty and justice for all. Supporting this effort would affirm those principles and demonstrate a commitment to the freedoms that define our country. Thank you for your time and for your service to Texas.
