I am writing to express my deep concern over President Donald Trump’s unconstitutional actions since his 2025 inauguration. His reckless abuse of power threatens the foundations of our democracy, the rule of law, and the stability of the nation. If Congress does not take immediate action, including considering impeachment, we risk irreversible damage to the institutions that protect American democracy. Since returning to office, Trump has demonstrated a blatant disregard for constitutional principles. He has expanded executive power in dangerous ways, bypassing Congress through sweeping executive orders that undermine the legislative process. His orders have restricted immigration policies without congressional approval, attacked environmental regulations, and overhauled civil service protections to consolidate power under loyalists. These unilateral moves defy the intent of the Constitution, which grants Congress the authority to make laws and hold the executive branch accountable. Trump has also interfered in the Justice Department in ways that should alarm every American. He has targeted federal prosecutors involved in investigations against him, purging those who do not pledge loyalty to his administration. The Justice Department must remain independent, but under Trump, it is becoming a tool for political retaliation. This is an assault on the rule of law and a dangerous step toward authoritarian rule. Perhaps most alarming is Trump’s recent efforts to cut off federal funding for critical scientific research. His decision to freeze funding for medical, climate, and technological research is not just reckless—it’s a direct attack on innovation and public health. These cuts threaten life-saving advancements, including cancer research, infectious disease prevention, and renewable energy development. Without these investments, America risks falling behind the world in scientific progress, putting both our economy and public safety in jeopardy. Trump’s partnership with powerful billionaires like Elon Musk further compounds the threat. Musk has gained unprecedented influence over federal policy decisions, shaping infrastructure, defense, and space policy with little oversight. By allowing corporate interests to dictate national priorities, Trump is eroding democratic governance in favor of unchecked private control. This is not how a democracy should function. We cannot afford to wait until the damage is beyond repair. Trump’s disregard for constitutional limits, his attacks on democratic institutions, and his authoritarian tendencies must be met with swift and decisive action. Congress has the power to investigate and hold him accountable. If he continues to violate the Constitution, impeachment must be on the table. I urge you to stand up for the rule of law, defend our democracy, and take every action possible to stop Trump’s dangerous agenda. Our country’s future depends on it.
