I write to you today as a concerned citizen and constituent who is alarmed by the state of leadership within the Republican Party.
Senator Lisa Murkowski recently stated that “every Republican senator is afraid of Donald Trump.” If this is true—and it certainly appears to be—then I have to ask: What exactly are you being paid for?
You were elected to represent the people, to serve the Constitution, and to protect the integrity of our democratic system—not to cower in the shadow of one man. Donald Trump has been impeached twice, and yet the Senate failed to convict him. Since then, his behavior has only grown more alarming—defying court orders, attacking judges and institutions, and behaving as though the rule of law does not apply to him or his inner circle.
This is not leadership. It is the erosion of our democracy.
If fear of political retribution from Trump or his base is enough to silence you, then you should resign. Let someone with courage and commitment to country take your place.
Your silence sends a dangerous message: that some people are above the law, that loyalty to a man outweighs loyalty to the Constitution, and that our elected representatives are no longer willing to uphold their oaths.
We, the people, expect better.
Do your job. Speak the truth. Protect the Republic.
