Vote against the harmful provisions buried in this year's NDAA. The $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget in H.R. 8800 and S. 4784 is the largest inflation-adjusted defense budget in American history, and it's loaded with wasteful, strategically indefensible spending that has nothing to do with keeping Americans safe.
Section 219 of H.R. 8800 (Section 1217 in the Senate version) would give Israel unprecedented access to American military technology and force integration of Israeli defense systems into our own supply chain. That's a dangerous entanglement with a foreign government's military. The Golden Dome missile shield carries an estimated total cost of $1.2 trillion over 20 years for a system unlikely to ever be fully operational. Renaming the Department of Defense the "Department of War" would cost up to $125 million. Defense experts say the new battleship program makes little strategic sense for the Navy. These are vanity projects, not security investments.
Pass a responsible defense budget that addresses real security needs. Strip out Section 219, the Golden Dome funding, the renaming provision, and the battleship program. Constituents are watching this vote.
