Americans Deserve Relief, Not Corruption and Chaos

To: Rep. Carter, Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Leander, TX

May 10

The American people are drowning while this Administration and its political allies treat our government like a private ATM for the rich, the connected, and the loyal. Families are struggling to pay rent, buy groceries, keep the lights on, and afford healthcare while powerful insiders cash in off taxpayer dollars and abuse public office without consequence. Enough. We see exactly what is happening. We are not distracted by alien stories, political theater, culture war nonsense, or manufactured outrage cycles designed to keep Americans divided while corruption grows in plain sight. Americans are working harder than ever and falling further behind. The cost of living remains crushing. Housing is unaffordable. Insurance premiums are exploding. Utility bills keep climbing. Wages are not keeping pace. Even basic groceries became a symbol of economic pain as prices skyrocketed to record highs. Americans are exhausted from hearing politicians brag about “economic success” while millions of regular Americans are one emergency away from total disaster. And all the while we ordinary people struggle, this Administration continues to reward insiders and burn taxpayer money. We watched Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy spend months filming a television show of his family taking a 7 month all expenses paid road trip while Americans deal with failing infrastructure, dangerous roads, flight disruptions, and rising transportation costs. We watched Donald Trump hand out a $6.9 million no-bid contract to a company tied to his own golf club projects for cosmetic work at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool — a project taxpayers were told would cost far less and last far longer. We watched this Administration threaten more reckless tariffs even after courts ruled prior actions illegal, knowing full well American consumers always end up paying the price through higher costs. And now Americans are expected to accept another endless Middle East war that economists warn could cost hundreds of billions — potentially trillions — while Congress lectures us about deficits every time people ask for affordable childcare, school funding, healthcare, or food assistance. There always seems to be money for vanity projects, political favors, military escalation, and billionaire tax breaks. But suddenly there is “no money” when Americans ask for help surviving. That is not leadership. That is corruption dressed up as governance. Congress was not elected to serve wealthy donors, MAGA media personalities, political influencers, or corporations feeding off public money. You were elected to serve the American people. Do your job. Investigate corruption aggressively. Stop the abuse of executive power. End no-bid political favoritism. Protect taxpayers from reckless economic policies that raise costs on working families. Defend ethics laws. Defend oversight. Defend democracy itself. The American people are paying attention. We are angry. And we are tired of watching those in power enrich themselves while ordinary Americans struggle to survive. Help the people you were elected to represent — before this country becomes unrecognizable.
