Congress to reform or reinforce War Powers limitations and accountability

To: Rep. Elfreth, Sen. Van Hollen, Sen. Alsobrooks

From: A constituent in Arnold, MD

June 22, 2025

I am writing you today because we demand accountability: Defying constitutional guardrails, Trump Republican regime directly inserted the United States into a war directly contradicting longstanding democratic safeguards such as the War Powers Resolution designed to prevent such a unilateral escalation. Constitutionally, declaring war is Congress’s responsibility not the president’s. • We are urging you to convene immediately and assert constitutional responsibility. • We urge you to qsk support for a resolution halting any ongoing military operations in Iran until formal approval is granted. • We demand that Congress to reform or reinforce War Powers limitations so rogue actions—like the ones seen today—do not become normalized. • We demand you sign to impeach, convict, and remove the Trump Republican administration immediately.
