Tuesday, June 17, 2025 marks another public kidnapping/detainment of an elected official by ICE. The alleged agents provided neither identification nor a warrant, before arresting New York City Comptroller Brad Lander in public, caught on video as is the case yet again. President Trump and Kristi Noem have effectively weaponized the organization as their own secret police to remove anyone deemed undesirable or a potential threat to their fascist regime all while no action is taken to hold the people committing these acts responsible. Furthermore the American public has no guarantee these are legally registered ICE agents and not wannabe vigilantes carrying out their and the administration’s fantasy of creating an unchallenged authoritarian state. The best time for action is now. You swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and you must make good on that. Your duty as an elected official is to protect mmm the best interests of your constituents. Inaction or support of the Trump administration is a direct violation to those charges. You must take action to stop from continuing. Investigate the organization, pass legislating to limit the harm they are committing, hold the respective parties accountable, and/or a combination of these. Failure to act ensures that you, your friends, and your family will eventually be on their list. Act in that self interest at minimum if you cannot be bothered to uphold your charge of protecting your constituents. This is not conjecture, it is fact; no one is safe or immune under fascism. You are a public servant, either act accordingly or resign.
