The Sunshine Protection Act is a proposed U.S. law that would make daylight saving time permanent nationwide, ending the biannual practice of changing clocks. The U.S. House of Representatives passed the bill 308–117 in July 2026 with bipartisan support and backing from President Donald Trump. However, the Senate has not yet approved the bill, and it remains stalled in the chamber, meaning Americans will continue to adjust their clocks. For this reason, it is urgent for Senators Cruz and Cornyn to sign a discharge petition and vote on this bill as soon as possible before Daylight Savings Time ends in November because statistics show that permanent daylight saving time boosts economic activity, increases evening tourism and outdoor recreation, and creates more predictable schedules.
