Block the EPA's Methane Regulation Rollback and Protect the Clean Air Act

Block the EPA's proposed rollback of the 2024 methane rule. This is not a cost-saving measure for Americans. It is a giveaway to an industry that has posted record profits while wasting $7 billion worth of natural gas through leaks, venting, and flaring since the EPA stopped enforcing oil and gas regulations in March 2025. The American Lung Association has warned that scrapping these limits would expose communities to benzene, formaldehyde, and volatile organic compounds that worsen air quality. The US already emits more methane from its oil and gas sector than any other country in the world, and methane drives at least a quarter of today's warming. The 2024 rule was the first time the federal government set nationwide requirements for existing facilities. Gutting it now, after industry groups met privately with EPA staff at least 38 times in a single year to shape the outcome, is not deregulation. It is regulatory capture. The Clean Air Act exists to protect public health. That mandate does not bend to industry lobbying. Stand behind the landmark protections Congress passed and defend every American's right to breathe clean air.
