I support increased taxes for the 0.5%
To: Gov. Hochul

Please consider increasing the state income tax on extremely high earners. My husband and I are fortunate enough to have had high incomes for most of our careers. Even so, on our best years, we haven't hit that $1M mark. Which is only important insofar it has taught me how inconsequential this tax increase is. We could absorb it without issue in roughly half the income that is currently under debate. Quite simply, I feel like anyone complaining about this increase is a complete ninny or incredibly bad at managing their finances. We have ridiculously regressive taxes in this country, and while I applaud that NY has an income tax at all (I've lived in several states without income tax), the tax burden is still weighted in the wrong direction. Don't enable greed: set a good example by taxing the wealthy in order to support a healthy and happy populace.
