Protect free speech, reconsider overreach in terrorist bill

To: Sen. Padilla, Rep. Obernolte, Sen. Butler

From: A constituent in Joshua Tree, CA

November 18

I do not support advancing this legislation any further and urge you to VOTE AGAINST it. Granting the executive branch expanded authority to unilaterally designate organizations as "terrorist supporting" and revoke their tax-exempt status based on allegations of minimal support sets a concerning precedent. Such broad powers risk being misused to suppress legitimate dissent, undermine free speech rights, and chill lawful association - core pillars of democracy. Preserving robust civil liberties that enable citizens to voice opposition without fear of retribution should be paramount. I urge thoughtful reconsideration of potential overreach and unintended consequences before proceeding with this bill.
