Dear Representative,
I am writing as your constituent to urge you to withhold your vote for Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker of the House and Chuck Schumer as Senate Majority Leader.
The Democratic Party needs a fundamental change in leadership. We cannot continue to reward political caution, ineffective strategy, and a willingness to compromise away the priorities of the people. We deserve leaders who are prepared to use their legislative leverage, defend democratic institutions, and deliver meaningful results for working people.
The influence of the AIPAC over Democratic congressional leaders is unacceptable. AIPAC has spent substantial sums influencing congressional elections, supporting candidates aligned with their priorities and opposing those who challenge unconditional U.S. support for the Israeli government.
This substantial political influence impacts the decisions of Congress. Both Jeffries and Schumer have longstanding relationships with the pro-Israel political donor network. I expect Democratic leadership to be accountable to constituents, not beholden to powerful donors or outside political organizations.
My concerns extend beyond foreign policy. Democratic leadership has repeatedly failed to use its political leverage effectively. The 2025 government funding negotiations demonstrated the consequences of a strategy that too often prioritizes political expediency over securing meaningful protections for the people you represent. Simply opposing Republican policies is an inadequate governing strategy. I want leaders who can articulate a positive vision, investigate criminal conduct, build coalitions, and fight effectively for healthcare, affordable housing, economic security, civil liberties, and environmental protection.
This must not be a symbolic opposition. I am demanding a genuine change in leadership and direction. Positions of congressional leadership should not be treated as entitlements. They should be earned through demonstrated judgment, accountability, and a willingness to represent the people rather than established political interests.
I urge you to withhold your vote for Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker of the House and Chuck Schumer as Senate Majority Leader, and to proactively support new leadership that reflects the urgency of this political moment.
I expect my representatives to demand better.
Sincerely,
