I'm asking you to co-sponsor Rep. Jamie Raskin's legislation to establish a Commission on Presidential Capacity to Discharge the Powers and Duties of Office. This is about national security, not politics. Trump's recent threat that "a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again" if Iran didn't meet his deadline crosses a line. He initiated war without congressional declaration or consent, then walked it back with a two-week ceasefire. This erratic behavior on matters of war and peace puts American lives at risk. The 25th Amendment exists for exactly this scenario. Section 4 provides a constitutional mechanism to determine whether a president can discharge his duties. Raskin's bill would create a 17-member body to conduct a medical examination within 72 hours of adoption, as the Constitution allows. This isn't about removing Trump through Congress. It's about giving the Cabinet the information they need to fulfill their constitutional responsibility. Public trust in Trump's capacity has dropped to unprecedented lows. When the president's behavior raises questions about his fitness during wartime, we need answers. Co-sponsor this bill.
