Veto SB3, protect Texas veterans' rights and access to relief

To: Gov. Abbott

From: A verified voter in Arlington, TX

June 19

I urge you to veto Senate Bill 3 and protect the rights of our Texas veterans. This legislation would eliminate access to hemp-derived products that provide effective relief from service-related conditions like pain, PTSD, and anxiety without impairing ability to function. The proposed expanded Texas Compassionate Use Program is inadequate, forcing veterans into an impossible choice between seeking relief and surrendering their Second Amendment rights. Veterans escaped the VA's dangerous pharmaceutical trap through hemp products, only to face being pushed back towards opioids and other medications that nearly destroyed lives and families. This cruel legislation disregards service and creates suffering where there is a reasonable middle ground. Texas promises to honor its veterans, a commitment you have championed. I implore you to uphold that promise by vetoing SB3. We defended American freedoms abroad; don't let this bill strip us of our liberties at home. Stand with those who answered the call to serve and now demand both health and the right to self-defense. Veto SB3 and protect Texas veterans' access to hemp-derived relief without sacrificing our Constitutional rights.
