The recently reported proposal to create a reality TV show where immigrants compete for expedited U.S. citizenship is deeply troubling and demeaning. Turning the pursuit of citizenship into a spectacle for entertainment degrades human dignity and undermines the principles our nation was founded upon. Immigrants already face immense challenges navigating the complex legal process. Subjecting them to contrived competitions and public scrutiny for the sake of ratings is exploitative and dehumanizing. The citizenship process should be a solemn undertaking that respects applicants' privacy and inherent human worth. I urge you to reject this cynical ploy masquerading as patriotism and ensure our immigration system operates with fairness, compassion and integrity befitting American ideals.
