Demand Immediate Accountability for HHS Secretary Kennedy's Dangerous Failures

To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno, Rep. Joyce

From: A constituent in Willoughby, OH

March 5

I am writing to demand immediate congressional action to hold HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. accountable for his catastrophic first year in office. The evidence of his failures is overwhelming, and the consequences for public health are severe. Kennedy promised radical transparency and gold-standard science in his inaugural speech. Instead, within 10 days, HHS rescinded a 54-year-old policy requiring public comments on new rules and regulations. He has communicated policy changes through pay-walled media, fired a whistleblower, and dismissed advisers and experts without justification. This is the opposite of transparency. The damage to federal health agencies is measurable and dangerous. The CDC's changes were so extreme that 26 states rejected official vaccine guidance. The FDA withdrew warnings about raw milk and chlorine dioxide, a substance falsely marketed as an autism treatment. The NIH shuttered programs studying air pollution's health effects while cutting-edge research on mRNA vaccines, diabetes, and dementia was denied resources. HHS even withheld a report linking alcohol consumption to cancer. Most alarming is the CDC's award of an unsolicited $1.6 million grant for a vaccine study in Guinea-Bissau with ethical concerns so serious that The Lancet compared it to the Tuskegee Syphilis Study. Meanwhile, thousands of public health datasets are no longer available, and monitoring systems for drug overdoses, maternal mortality, and food security have been undermined. The timing could not be worse. In November 2025, the first human H5N5 avian flu infection and death occurred in Washington state. Pertussis killed 13 people in 2025 and continues spreading. A measles outbreak beginning in January 2024 threatens the elimination status of both the United States and Mexico. Kennedy has elevated junk science and fringe beliefs while politicizing the NIH, FDA, and CDC. When questioned by Congress, he has been evasive and combative. I urge you to exercise your constitutional oversight authority and pursue impeachment proceedings against Secretary Kennedy and removal of his unqualified appointees. The health of Americans and the world depends on restoring competent, science-based leadership to HHS immediately.
